Volunteers should have working rights

Imagine a world where volunteers had their basic needs met, how many more people would and could volunteer? I have a why, but I need your help to get that idea heard by the people who can make that difference.

I have volunteered for a few organisations over the years, which I have enjoyed while I have not been working and its been great it really has, I love giving back, however in that time I have also struggled and although you do get a love to shop voucher and you travel cost covered, would it not be nice to have some of your bills covered?

I know what some people are thinking now, get a job? and yes if life where that simple some of us would do just that, but actually it isn’t and some can’t, so they volunteers, to help and give back. Would it not be great to have the option, so you do not have to struggle while you help someone else out. It is nice to get the colouring book or the pens that amount to £50.00 would it not be great to have that money to top up your electric or your gas things that if not paid can add to the pressures of a life of inequalities? and result in your mental health.

I believe that we need to have rights for people who volunteer as its a sector that is not regulated and as a result, people are made to work for free because they are on benefits. We want to ask the government to regulate the sector and make it law that companies and organisations have to meet their volunteers’ basic needs. Please sign the petition, because you never know when it could be you, that needs that extra support while you volunteer.

Please support the fight, to have volunteers basic needs met and also have rights for volunteers as for some its a full-time job.
